What happened

Whole Foods Market is recalling pre-washed Organic Carrots & Celery packages (15 oz) because they may be contaminated with E. coli O121:H19, a bacteria that can cause foodborne illness. The affected products were packed for the Austin, TX location and distributed to Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, and Nevada.

Who is at risk

Everyone who consumed these products could potentially be affected, though young children, elderly people, and those with weakened immune systems are at higher risk of serious illness from E. coli.

What to do

If you purchased this product, do not eat it—throw it away or return it to Whole Foods for a refund. Watch for symptoms like diarrhea, stomach cramps, and vomiting for the next several days; contact your doctor if you experience these symptoms and mention the recalled product.
