What happened

Publix is recalling Publix Steam in Bag Season Butternut Medley because the butternut squash used in the product may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, a bacteria that can cause serious illness. About 7,714 units were affected, and the product was only sold at Publix stores.

Who is at risk

Everyone can be affected by Listeria, but pregnant women, young children, older adults, and people with weakened immune systems are at higher risk of serious illness.

What to do

If you purchased this product, do not eat it—throw it away or return it to Publix for a refund. Contact your doctor if you have eaten it and develop symptoms like fever, muscle aches, or gastrointestinal illness.
