What happened

Savannah Food Company is recalling Savannah Classics Special Cornbread Dressing (7lb trays) because eggs used to make the product may contain listeria monocytogenes, a bacteria that can cause foodborne illness. This is a Class II recall, meaning the product could cause serious health problems but is unlikely to cause death.

Who is at risk

Everyone can get sick from listeria, but pregnant women, newborns, older adults, and people with weakened immune systems are at highest risk for severe illness.

What to do

If you purchased this cornbread dressing from stores in Tennessee, Alabama, Texas, Mississippi, South Carolina, North Carolina, Florida, Georgia, or Arkansas, do not eat it—throw it away or return it to the store. Contact your doctor if you develop symptoms like fever, muscle aches, or gastrointestinal issues within 2 weeks of eating the product.
