What happened

Starwest Botanicals is recalling cardamom pods because they tested positive for Salmonella, a bacteria that can cause foodborne illness. The affected products are green whole organic cardamom pods sold in 1 pound bags and 25 pound bulk boxes imported from Guatemala.

Who is at risk

Anyone who consumed or may consume these cardamom pods could potentially get sick, particularly young children, elderly people, and those with weakened immune systems.

What to do

Check if you have cardamom pods from Starwest Botanicals with Lot #90186-00. If you do, throw them away or return them to the store. Wash your hands and any surfaces that may have contacted the product.
