Royal Seafood Baza is recalling 24-ounce containers of Fresh Seafood brand refrigerated Holland Herring in Oil because the product may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, a bacteria that can cause serious illness. This is a serious recall (Class I), meaning there is a potential health hazard.

Who is at risk

Everyone can be affected, but pregnant women, young children, older adults, and people with weakened immune systems face the highest risk of serious illness from Listeria.

What to do

If you purchased this product (UPC 825512 008128), do not eat it—throw it away or return it to the store where you bought it. Contact your doctor if you have eaten this product and experience fever, muscle aches, or other flu-like symptoms, especially if you are in a high-risk group.
