What happened

Garden-Fresh Foods recalled Dairy Fresh Special Recipe Potato Salad because it contains onions that may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, a bacteria that can cause illness. The onions came from a supplier, Gills Onions, that issued its own recall for the same contamination concern.

Who is at risk

People who are pregnant, very young, elderly, or have weakened immune systems are at highest risk from Listeria, though anyone can become ill from it.

What to do

If you purchased this potato salad (5 lb. container, UPC 0 70163 40659 7), do not eat it—throw it away or return it to the store. Contact your doctor if you ate this product and experience fever, chills, muscle aches, or nausea within the next few weeks.
