What happened

Newly Weds Foods is recalling 25-pound bags of panko Japanese style untoasted bread crumbs because they may be contaminated with Listeria Monocytogenes, a bacteria that can cause illness. This is a serious recall (Class I), meaning there is a potential health hazard.

Who is at risk

Everyone should be concerned, but pregnant women, young children, elderly people, and those with weakened immune systems are at higher risk of serious illness from Listeria.

What to do

If you have this product, do not use it—throw it away or return it to the store. The affected bags were distributed in FL, ID, IL, KS, MO, NY, OR, TX, WA, WI, and Canada. Contact Newly Weds Foods or your retailer if you have questions.
