What happened

Bright Farms is recalling Butter Crisp lettuce sold in 4oz plastic containers from their Illinois farm because it may contain Salmonella bacteria. This is a serious recall, though no illnesses have been confirmed yet.

Who is at risk

Everyone who consumed this product could be at risk, but young children, elderly people, and those with weakened immune systems are more likely to develop severe illness.

What to do

Check your refrigerator for Bright Farms Butter Crisp lettuce in clear plastic clamshells from Illinois. If you have any, throw it away or return it to the store. Wash your hands and any surfaces that may have touched the lettuce.
