What happened

Bright Farms is recalling Mighty Romaine lettuce sold in 4oz and 8oz packages because it may be contaminated with Salmonella, a harmful bacteria that can cause illness. The lettuce was grown at their indoor farm in Rochelle, Illinois and sold in Illinois, Wisconsin, Iowa, Indiana, and Michigan.

Who is at risk

Anyone who consumed this product could potentially get sick, though young children, elderly people, and those with weakened immune systems are at higher risk for serious illness.

What to do

If you purchased Mighty Romaine lettuce in these sizes from these states, do not eat it—throw it away or return it to your store. Wash your hands and any surfaces that may have touched the lettuce. Contact a doctor if you develop symptoms like diarrhea, fever, or abdominal cramps.
