What happened

Taylor Farms Colorado recalled prepared yellow onions (sliced, diced, slivered, and ringed) sold to restaurants and food service businesses because they may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7, a harmful bacteria. The affected products were distributed to food service facilities in Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, New Mexico, and Utah.

Who is at risk

Anyone who ate food prepared with these onions at restaurants or food service facilities in the affected states could be at risk, especially young children, elderly people, and those with weakened immune systems.

What to do

If you ate at a restaurant in the affected states and experienced symptoms like severe stomach cramps, diarrhea (especially bloody), or vomiting, contact your doctor and mention this recall. Home consumers are unlikely to be affected since this product was sold only to food service businesses, not retail stores.
